International Awards 1999 - Linens for Liberia, West Africa 2010 - Haiti Earthquake Relief fund for earthquake victims 2008 Charity Award HALOS (Helping and Lending Outreach Support) Cupidette Mary Suzan National Charity Chairperson who presented a check to Kim Clifton a representative of HALOS Foundation (Helping and Lending Outreach Support). 2009 Charity Award YMCA Joe Smith the executive director of the Chattanooga, TN branch of the YMCA joined the National Organization of Cupidettes Club, Inc. at Lake Winnie Park to accept the charity award and to enlighten Cupidettes with information about the community efforts sponsored by the local YMCA. The funds received helped send 10 Young Black men to a boxing camp in Costa Rica for one week. 2010 Charity Award Kathy Cole is the director of New Journeys Transitional home located in Miami, FL. Their mission is to decrease the rate of homelessness for young woman by providing an immediate, safe, affordable and nurturing housing environment that promotes independence and self-sufficiency. We seek to empower and enhance the lives of young adults by offering a wide-range of support services. The funds received help to assist funding to the home. 2011 Charity Award The 2011 charity award recipient is the Columbus, Ohio based organization of “A Girl and her Pearls” located at Wesley United Methodist Church. This organization was founded by Angela Williams who became a single mother at the age of 17. The creation of this program provides valuable strategies for building character and integrity by identifying the pearls of life and it teaches each girl how to protect and cultivate these pearls. This comprehensive, clear, and creative program helps each girl to appreciate that she is fearfully and wonderfully made, and to accept that being different is special and will aspire her to find her purpose in life while developing the lady inside. The program is designed to mentor to girls from 12 to 19 years of age. The award will assist with the registration for some of the young ladies of the church and community. |

Safe Nest’s programs are concentrated in four areas of service: shelter, counseling, advocacy and prevention. Our shelter homes are maintained in undisclosed locations for the safety of abuse victims and their children, and all services are provided with confidentiality as a high priority. Our goal is to assist families from crisis to healing, while empowering victims toward self-sufficiency in violence-free lives. Safe Nest provides services for victims, batterers and their children. Prevention programs focus on children, teens, and young adults. Domestic violence takes multiple forms, including physical, sexual, emotional and verbal abuse, destruction of property, abuse of pets, social isolation and economic dependency. 2017 Charity Award Founded in 1980, Jenesse Center is a nonprofit domestic violence intervention and prevention organization with a resolute mission: to restore, and provide trauma informed, culturally responsive, holistic, comprehensive services to survivors and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence, and to advance prevention modalities to sustain healthy and safe communities free of violence. Jenesse works locally, nationally, and globally to shine a light on violence against women, girls, men, and boys and advocates the basic human right for all people to have peace in their homes and relationships.
